The Shelver is responsible for unloading carts, shelving materials, and keeping the collections in order throughout the Library. In addition, the Shelver must have working knowledge of the SIRSI computer system and be able to provide back-up coverage at the Circulation Desk.
This job entails lifting, bending and carrying. Proficiency with technology is required. One year experience working in a library, retails or hospitality setting is strongly preferred. Work requires continual standing or walking at least 95% of the time. Candidate must be able to read and organize material according to Library standards. On-the-job training will be provided. Must be able to push carts with 250 pounds of Library materials.
15-16.5 hours per week (average)
Position 1 (16.5 hours/week): Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 6 to 10 p.m.;
1st, 3rd, and 4th Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Position 2 (16.5 hours/week): Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 6 to 10 p.m.; 1st, 2nd, and 4th Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Position 3 (15 hours/week): Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 6 to 10 p.m.;
1st, 3rd, and 4th Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
