It’s a win-win! When it comes to our Food for Fines program, the saying holds true. If you owe fines for overdue Library materials, you can pay them off with non-perishable donated food items from Friday, Nov. 24 to Sunday, Dec. 31.

Each donated item removes $1 in Library fines, with a limit of 10 items per visit. Please keep in mind that expired food will not be accepted, and food donations will not be accepted for lost or damaged items or collection agency fines.

The best part about Food for Fines? All donations go to the Schaumburg Township Food Pantry.

“By participating in Food for Fines, you reduce your fines and help out someone else who uses the food pantry,” said Kathy Morgan, director of circulation services for the Library. “It’s a great way to get a great result.”

Some of the best items to donate are: canned meats, canned pasta, canned soup, juice, snacks and crackers, baking items, tomato products, paper goods, household supplies and hygiene products.
