International bestselling author Charlie Donlea says he’s a “true crime junkie” and believes books should have captivating twists and surprise endings. Donlea will be talking about his upcoming new release, Some Choose Darkness, along with his other acclaimed thrillers, The Girl Who Was Taken, Don’t Believe It and Summit Lake, when he visits the Library on Wednesday, April 3.
Library patrons JKC and JoAnn Bechtold are looking forward to hearing him speak, as both are fans of Donlea’s books.
“My favorite book was his first, Summit Lake,” said JKC. “One of the character’s storylines was written from the past to the present, while another was written just in the present. It really captured my attention. I love reading a book I can’t put down and just have to finish.”
JKC said she likes the Donlea’s straightforward writing style with realistic, flawed characters. JoAnn echoed that thought, adding she was glad Librarian Allison Bies recommended Donlea’s Summit Lake to her. She has since recommended The Girl Who Was Taken to her book club.
“His style is easy and fast to read, with interesting plots and unique story lines,” JoAnn said. “His characters feel real, and I was able to identify with some of their emotions and turmoil.”
