We are pleased to introduce a new monthly program for seniors living with memory loss or dementia and their caregivers. The new Memory Café is a free, welcoming social gathering for individuals experiencing dementia or memory challenges.

Memory Cafés provide a supportive environment where participants can connect with others, enjoy engaging activities, and spend meaningful time together. Each session includes social time, a themed group activity, and light refreshments. Participants must be accompanied by a family member, friend, or caregiver.

These series of programs are offered in partnership with Synergy HomeCare, JourneyCare Hospice, Lutheran Home, and Encore Village.

Programs are held on the first Tuesday of each month from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. at the Central Library.

Tuesday, March 3: Spring Activities and Floral Arranging

Tuesday, April 7: Planting Activity and Poetry Memories

Tuesday, May 5: Patriotic Craft and Activities

Library of Things Memory Kits

In addition, we offer Memory Kits as part of our Library of Things collection, available to Schaumburg cardholders for three-week checkouts. Kits are full of resources and activities for those living with early to mid-stage dementia and promote continued engagement, independence, and a sense of accomplishment.
