Log in to My Account to see what you have checked out, when it's due and any holds you have placed.
Don't worry about forgetting to renew your items on time — because we've already taken care of it! We have auto-renewal, meaning we'll automatically renew eligible items for you (up to four times!).
If an item is not eligible for auto-renew (such as when another patron has placed a hold on it), you'll receive a courtesy email reminding you on the due date. Not sure if it's renewable? Check out the chart below or call (847) 923-3158.
Loan Periods, Limits and FinesSchaumburg Library is fine free! What does that mean? Read our answers to frequently asked questions.
Please note that eMedia (including streaming services and most eBooks/eAudiobooks) are limited to Schaumburg cardholders only.
For physical materials, you may borrow up to 100 items at a time, with the following limits by material type. If you live outside the Schaumburg Library service area, you may be able to borrow materials with a valid card from your home library. Call the Registration Desk at (847) 923-3160 to find out if we have a reciprocal borrowing arrangement with your library.

*Non-Schaumburg Library cardholders may not borrow these items. Read our full borrowing policy.
After an item is overdue by one additional loan period, your card will be blocked and you can no longer check out items. For example, if an item can be checked out for 21 days, your card will be blocked when the item is 21 days overdue. (This is after any applicable renewals.) If an item can be checked out for 3 days, your card will be blocked when the item is 3 days overdue, etc. Once you return the item, your card will be unblocked.
After the item is 45 days overdue, if the item is still checked out, we’ll bill you for the item. If you have been billed for an item and the fee is not paid within 45 days, the Library may refer your account to an external material recovery agency.
Lost or Damaged Materials
You are responsible for the materials you borrow. A replacement cost will be charged if an item is lost or badly damaged. We cannot accept a replacement copy in lieu of payment.
