Our Rhyme of the Month Club is a fun way to get little ones at daycares and preschools excited to learn about and celebrate the diversity of our community while developing valuable early literacy skills.

Youth staff members will visit your child’s daycare or preschool with a storytime to begin their participation in the Club. Then, each month, we’ll send posters with a new rhyme for classrooms to share together throughout the month.

We’ll also send the monthly rhyme and a coloring activity home with each child. This way, you can read the rhyme together with your child and talk more about it as you color one of the characters from the rhyme. Bring your completed coloring page to any Library location and we’ll hang it up!

At the end of the school year in May, your child will receive our Songs and Rhymes from our Community book, which includes all the rhymes we shared with you throughout the year, plus a few more, and space for you to write in your own family’s or culture’s rhymes.

Songs and Rhymes from our Community was created in partnership with residents of Schaumburg Township, and features rhymes from cultures around their world, written in English and each rhyme’s native language.

Watch members of our staff share the songs and rhymes featured in our book with this YouTube playlist.
