Young adults ages 15-18 with current Schaumburg Township District Library cards are invited to apply to become a Student Advisory Trustee (SAT) on the Schaumburg Township District Library Board.

The SAT is a non-voting position that will:

  • Participate in Library discussions
  • Provide feedback on teen programs
  • Give input to the Board regarding questions, concerns and interests from their teen peers
  • Share communication with D211 High Schools and the Schaumburg Library Teen Department
  • The SAT position will act as an informal liaison between three District 211 high schools (Schaumburg, Conant and Hoffman Estates), sharing information with school contacts about programs and resources available through Schaumburg Library and sharing with the Library events happening at the schools.

    SATs are expected to coordinate through email and conversations with D211 school staff and Schaumburg Library staff to promote the above-mentioned programs and services available to teens.

    SATs are also expected to:

  • Attend monthly Board meetings held on the third Monday of every month at 6:00 p.m.
  • Present to the Board the information they are sharing with the schools and the Library
  • Attend monthly meetings with Library Teen Department staff
  • In this position, SATs may also be asked to help with informational tables, programs and Library events if they are available.

    This SAT position will be held from January 2024 – March 2025. Applications will be accepted December 8, 2023 – December 29, 2023.
