Young adults ages 15-18 living within the Schaumburg Township District Library service area are invited to apply to become a Student Advisory Trustee (SAT) on the Schaumburg Township District Library Board.

The SAT is a non-voting position that:

  • Participates in Library discussions
  • Provides feedback on teen programs and resources
  • Gives input to the Board regarding questions, concerns, and interests from their teen peers
  • Shares communication with D211 High Schools and the Schaumburg Library Teen Department
  • During the school year, the SAT will act as an informal liaison between three D211 high schools (Schaumburg, Conant, Hoffman Estates) and the Schaumburg Library, sharing information with both school and Library contacts about upcoming programs and resources.

    SATs are expected to coordinate through email and in-person conversations with D211 school staff and Schaumburg Library staff to promote the above-mentioned programs and services available to teens.

    SATs are also expected to:

  • Attend monthly Board meetings held on the third Monday of every month at 6:00 p.m.
  • Present to the Board the information they are sharing with the schools and the Library
  • Attend monthly meetings with Library Teen Department staff
  • Assist with at least two Library-wide and/or outreach events
  • In this position, SATs may also be asked to help with informational tables, programs, and Library events if they are available.

    This SAT position will be held from October 2025 – September 2026. Applications will be accepted online from July 28, 2025 – August 23, 2025.

    The Schaumburg Library Board of Trustees reserves the right to terminate my position due to more than two unexcused absences and/or inappropriate conduct.
